Tiffany Hart dreams of one thing, to be class president. But dreams turn to nightmares when she ends up almost dead in an abandoned slaughterhouse and develops the gift of ghost-seeing. Unfortunately she only knows one person who can help her shake her ghoulish problem, her neighbor and the weirdest boy at school, Justin Henderson. Justin has been seeing spirits since he was nine, a creepy claim that has earned him the privilege of eating lunch by himself for years. Together they start to unravel a mystery with dead orphans, a white witch, and phantom spiders. To save their lives (and afterlives of innocent children) they must face a terrifying specter and a ghastly woman who isn't afraid of hurting kids, dead or alive.

#MindDimensionsOmnibus

Darren has a secret and it seems that secret makes him feel isolated from those around him until he realizes he is not the only one who has these special abilities. He meets Mira and his whole world begins to change and as the story starts to unfold he learns more about his past and the strange way he is able to "step outside his body" so to speak to take in what is going on around him. As he originally liked to refer to this happening as the quiet. He learns it means he is really a reader and that can come with some consequences. Not everyone is fully accepting of this gift he has.

This is the first book I have read by Dima Zales and found him to be quite a good writer. If a book doesn't grab me in the first few sentences usually I tend to put it aside after pushing through a chapter or two to give it a fair chance. However in this series I enjoyed reading it as the words flowed well and the storyline was clearly mapped out. I found the concept quite interesting and I think we may have all at times wondered what others may be thinking or even wished we could stop time. Perhaps with the thought we could change things. It raises questions through out the book that keep you wanting to read more, like what happened to Mira's parents and Darren's parents? How will all this come together to make sense? There is action and intrique on each page to keep you guessing at what is about to unfold. If you like a good fantasy read, this is one to try.

I don't like giving away too much of a story line but I would recommend reading this story for yourself and seeing what you think. I'd be interested in more books by this author. :-) Overall I enjoyed reading them.

Review of Beat

Beat is a wonderfully adventurous novel that takes the moral and political questions of Gerald Lund's "The Alliance," or "The Giver" and quite skillfully amalgamates it with the action-packed pacing of James Dashner's "The Maze Runner." The action and new elements of this dystopian world will keep you turning the pages (or flipping the e-reader screen) until there aren't any left to read. The characters are well developed and well rounded, allowing for the reader to engage with the story at an intimate level.

One word of caution to this tale. Some of the odd spellings at the beginning of the novel are not typos - if you keep reading you'll soon discover the reason behind the different language syntax and spelling, so don't let it throw you.

If you enjoy action-packed novels that keep you reading through all hours of the night, Beat is the book for you.

With his oxygen and water running out, and with no way to warn the United Earth Marines, Landry’s lonely fight for survival becomes a battle for humanity itself. Landry is my kind of hero, he not a hero at all! He is an everyday guy who happens to land in a very extraordinary situation, and in doing so could turn the tide of an intergalactic war. I found it really interesting when Landry had to had to deal with a life and death situation. This book would be perfect for anyone that is interested in sci-fi kind of books, then this book would be a wonderful story to lose yourself in. I would really recommend this book to my friends.

It was a good retelling of the frog prince. I enjoyed all the books in this series so far. She is very imaginative and descriptive. It is like the folk tales of old, in which the purpose of telling was to teach a lesson. There are so many possible lessons approached within the Crowns of the Twelve series, that by the end you are left uncertain WHO they are truly for or WHAT was even learned.

Not the best piece of fantasy I've ever read. I read often and I found the book hard to follow and the characters hard to get behind. too much to try and keep track of which isn't bad in itself, but if you're already behind the 8-ball trying to figure out who is who, it can get kind of messy. Reminds me a bit of Tolkien in that I had a hard time reading it.. due to how it was written, but with Tolkien, I at least cared about the characters and could follow the story. Here, I may be a bit picky, but if you don't grab my attention by the story or character by the 3rd chapter, you've lost me. I need something to make me want to care for the main character and I didn't get it in this book.

SYNOPSIS

Alexandra Anderson is on the run from the law.
When the thirteen-year-old orphan can run no further, she collapses at the gates of the prestigious racing and breeding farm, North Oak. Horse racing strikes a deep chord in her. She hears a higher calling in the jingle jangle of bit and stirrup and in the thunder of hooves on the turn for home. It tells her she has a place in the world. But when the racing headlines find her on the front of every sports page, she realizes North Oak is no longer a safe haven.
Money can't buy love, but it just might secure Alex's future. Will everyone at North Oak still want to offer her a home when they learn of her unspeakable crime?
On the heels of Joanna Campbell's beloved Thoroughbred Series, and Walter Farley's Black Stallion, comes a brand new young adult horse racing series that will sweep you away like a runaway Thoroughbred.

Her characters are complex and conflicted . The story line could be taken out of the pages of a newspaper. The horses are not put into the story line just for show . They are a big part of the story.  Alexandra is a great character . She is trying to be tough but deep down inside she is a scared little girl. She has been through so much in her young life. But she is also a survivor, she doesn't want to get involved with anyone cause of her past in the group home . She sees the love between the families but doesn't know how to react when they show her love. But as you read you see that Alex is starting to blossom under the care. She touches all the other characters in such profound ways.  This was a great start to a new series that has lots of potential.

Review of Got Luck by: Michael Darling

<a href="http://www.tomoson.com/?code=TOP40b6e3829c94c06d59d22ed78a240319" rel="nofollow"><img style="display: none" src="http://www.tomoson.com/images/front/pixel.png" /></a>

The description of the book sounded interesting. I gave the book a read, and I am happy that I decided to read it. The first paragraphs had me thinking of one of those 1930's detective movies that I am not so much a fan of, and was unsure if I would enjoy the story. However then the lead character interested me. I think the term Got Luck is sarcastic in nature. After putting in a little time I was actually drawn into the story line. After getting a couple chapters into it I couldn't put it down.

This story is crime drama and fantasy. There is a little bit of humor to it too. You can't help but like the main character! It does have quite a bit of it that makes you think of TV show drama, and I would say that the target audience is Young Adult. Nothing wrong with that one of my favorite books is considered Young Adult, but I don't care. I do like the science fiction/ fantasy element to the story. The names are hard to figure out, but at the beginning of the book shows you how to pronounce the names. This is very helpful.

All in all I would call it a good read, and worth your time. It is a pretty quick read. Once you start and get into it you won't be able to put it down. #futurehousepub

This is a retelling of the classic folktale; the Swan Princess. It is a short, well written and enjoyable book. The story is about love, duty, patience and evil. Every element is tested through these characters, making them go far and beyond for the things and people they cherish. The MC Princess Aowyn is a favorite to the Queen;her mother while her six brothers are in favor of the King. But when her dear mother dies, the young princess vows to protect her family at all cost. She is young but very strong, patient and bright. Love conquers all, is a quote that is well played through out this fairy-tale.
It was an enjoyable light read to pass your day, It was a well written book.

It was a good re imagining of beauty and the beast! I love fairy tales and it was hard to put down. It was very well written, and although I wasn't sure what to expect when asked to review it I was impress. Ann Hunter is quite talented and it shows in every description of the landscape. It was a nice touching story and I enjoyed reading it. I probably would have read it even if I hadn't been asked to. I really enjoyed the story! #CrownsoftheTwelve

Description of book:

Fifteen-year-old Ashira just received the worst coming-of-age prophecy imaginable.

After years dreaming of oceans, princes, and fairies, she expected to hear the words that would finally whisk her away from her ordinary desert village. Instead she hears, “you will live a life of no renown.”

Ready to choose her own fate, she discovers a djinni’s bottle and starts making wishes. When the djinni proves uncooperative and annoying, Ashira sets out to the great city of magicians to learn magic and free herself from an uneventful life as a potter's daughter.

But there is another prophecy being whispered in the shadows. It is said that among the great magicians, there is a demon on the rise with the power to destroy the world. The djinni might be Ashira’s only chance to become someone important, or he just might be the very demon that triggered the dark prophecy. With the world on the brink of destruction, can Ashira fight her fate and stop the forces that threaten to upset the balance of the universe?

Aria proves to be strong and to have integrity when Ethan is lost underground on a survey mission, and she is left to unravel the source of a blight affecting both people and plants on the surface of the planet. Her ingenuity and kindness endeared her to me from the start. In fact, the author does a superb job of painting characters and their relationships with one another. As Ethan and his shipmates search for a way back to the surface, they bond together in powerful ways. Their adventures echo the Jules Verne classic, Journey to the Center of the Earth, although I thought Russell’s focus on character added depth to their struggles.
In conclusion, this book is light, fun read as long as you can keep up with the enormous cast of characters.
